Trump Organization finalizes $3M purchase of The Point Lake and Golf Club

In a $3 million deal, the Trump Organization today bought The Point Lake and Golf Club in Mooresville, Eric Trump told The Mecklenburg Times this afternoon.

“We’re closing literally as we speak,” said Eric, one of real estate mogul Donald Trump’s sons, said around 2 p.m. “It’s incredibly exciting.”

The purchase ends roughly two years of negotiations between the club and the Trump Organization. The deal almost died last year when a rift formed between club members who supported a Trump purchase and those who didn’t.

Eric Trump said the Trump Organization plans to spend “tens of millions of dollars” in the club, making it into “what we believe will be the best course in North Carolina.”

He said the Trump Organization plans to make aesthetic improvements at The Point and renovate bunkers and “redo” the tavern “and make it fabulous.” Plans also call for adding tennis courts, he said.

“We’re going to do a lot of things with the locker rooms, with the pool facility — really make it great,” he said.
