This summer, FreeMoreWest is inviting locals and visitors to explore one of the city’s most dynamic districts through seasonal menus, wellness experiences, local events, and its signature monthly market, Front Porch. Located just west of Uptown Charlotte, FreeMoreWest has become a go-to destination for spending the day, whether that means grabbing coffee in the morning, shopping local businesses in the afternoon, meeting friends for drinks and dinner, or winding down with a wellness experience.
Built on a foundation of freight rail, warehouses and industrial business, FreeMoreWest has evolved into a vibrant hub of independently owned restaurants, retailers, wellness studios and creative workspaces. What was once a corridor shaped by manufacturing and distribution is now home to recurring experiences and local businesses that invite people to slow down, explore and spend time throughout the district.
This summer, businesses across FreeMoreWest are introducing new menus, seasonal programming, wellness offerings and special events that reflect the energy, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit that continue to define the district.
Patio Nights, Cocktails & Evening Energy
FreeMoreWest’s restaurant and bar scene continues to evolve this summer with new menus, patio programming, themed experiences and late-night energy throughout the district, including:
Streetcar Bar + Bites recently launched “Miami Mondays,” transforming Monday nights into a retro-inspired late-night experience with DJs, cocktails and service industry specials.
At Pinky’s Westside Grill, guests can sip on the newly rolled out summer drink menu filled with fresh cocktails and mocktails alongside their seasonal June cocktail “It’s Hibiscus B*tch!, featuring 1800 coconut tequila, hibiscus syrup, coconut cream, fresh lemon and mint and the burger of the month, the Greek Smash Burger. Noble Smoke continues its patio music series this summer every Saturday from 5-8 p.m. rain or shine.
Maíz Agua Sal has introduced a weekday Cantina Hour from 3-6 p.m. inspired by the after-work gathering culture of traditional Mexican cantinas, encouraging guests to settle in over shared plates and drinks before dinner. Choose from two options: Spiked Agua Fresca Pitcher + 2 Apps for $40 or a Bucket of Beer + 2 Apps for $25.
At Counter-, notable chef Sam Hart is gearing up for a seasonally themed tasting menu experience, centered around “Pure Imagination,” that will feature a multicourse culinary interpretation inspired by Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory running June through August. The restaurant also continues its work supporting food sustainability and food access initiatives throughout West Charlotte.
City Kitch, one of FreeMoreWest’s most unique culinary hubs, continues supporting emerging chefs and food entrepreneurs through shared kitchen space, operational support, and growth resources. This summer, the incubator is spotlighting new concepts, including Crown & Tide.
Restaurant Constance is now serving a seasonal lobster roll featuring fresh herbs, celery, and potato pain au lait — a summer-forward take on a coastal classic available throughout the season. They’ve also recently introduced new desserts including a Pineapple Upside Down Cake, Seasonal Ice Creams and a Basque Cheesecake featuring goat cheese, strawberry, rhubarb, pistachio and kataifi.
Runaway Whiskey & Wine recently launched weekend lunch service every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring smash burgers, wraps, salads, mimosa flights, and espresso martini flights designed for long lunches and easy afternoons.
Pizza Baby West was recently recognized by 50 Top Pizza for the third consecutive year, this year ranking #42. This locally owned pizza spot is the ultimate place to indulge in high-quality pizza in FreeMoreWest.
Wellness All Summer Long
FreeMoreWest continues to grow as one of Charlotte’s most wellness-forward districts, bringing together fitness studios, recovery experiences like Sauna House, movement-based concepts and outdoor access all within a walkable area. From yoga and strength training to sauna sessions and Pilates, the district offers multiple ways to move, reset and recharge throughout the week.
The wellness experience extends beyond studio walls with direct access to the Stewart Creek Greenway, giving visitors an easy way to walk, run, bike or explore outdoors before or after visiting businesses throughout the district.
The Coterie is offering a summer-long unlimited membership designed to make movement and wellness more accessible. Fuel Bootcamp and Jungle Cycle + Strengthen Studio are also rolling out seasonal intro offers and summer promotions focused on fitness, movement and community-driven wellness experiences.
Days Well Spent in FreeMoreWest
FreeMoreWest continues to grow as one of Charlotte’s easiest places to spend a full day, with coffee shops, coworking spaces, retail destinations and locally owned businesses all within a short walk.
Neighborhood coffee shop Enderly Coffee continues to anchor mornings in the district with recurring community events, including Biscuit Jams, Saturday cinnamon roll pop-ups with Honeybear Bakeshop, and Friday home deliveries featuring collaborations with local bakeries and food concepts across Charlotte.
Another local coffee shop, Platform Coffee just launched their summer menu which includes the Red, White, & Blueberry, a strawberry latte topped with blueberry cold foam, The Sunrise which features peach basil syrup, your milk choice, and matcha and lastly the Split Decision, a banana latte with chocolate cold foam and topped with a maraschino cherry.
Throughout the day, visitors can move easily between coffee shops, design showrooms, bridal boutiques, and coworking spaces that contribute to the district’s creative and entrepreneurial energy. Businesses like Heritage Design, Coley Home, Slate Interiors, a&bé Bridal Shop, The Ruth and Hygge Coworking continue shaping FreeMoreWest into a place where people come to browse, work, gather and discover something new.
Two businesses are hosting exciting events on Thursday, June 4 including: Heritage Design’s Heritage After Hours from 4-7 p.m. featuring local artists, wine, lite bites, and curated design experiences inside the showroom and Night Swim Jay Street’s Wine Nite which features a tasting from 7-10 p.m.
Front Porch at FreeMoreWest
Front Porch, one of Charlotte’s most beloved monthly markets, continues its first season in FreeMoreWest on the first Saturday of every month through December from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the next market being Saturday, June 6.
Founded in 2015, Front Porch draws thousands of attendees each month while spotlighting local makers, artists, food vendors and small businesses from across the city. Its arrival in FreeMoreWest has helped reinforce the district as a recurring destination for gathering and exploration.
“Front Porch has always been about creating space for people to show up for each other in real life,” said Jordan Dollard, Front Porch Chief Retail Strategist. “FreeMoreWest already had the ingredients that make that possible — great businesses, walkable streets and a strong sense of identity. It’s quickly becoming one of Charlotte’s easiest places to spend the day.”
