, the Charlotte-based real estate investment and development firm, has announced the recapitalization of Gibson Mill, one of the region’s most distinctive adaptive reuse destinations and a community-driven gathering place in Concord, N.C. White Point is partnering with George “Jock” Liles, part of the original ownership group that acquired the former Cannon Mills property in 2004 and led its decades-long transformation, along with Jock’s sons, Welch, Paul, Woody and Hines.

Originally established in 1899, the 653,000-square-foot historic mill campus sits on 33 acres and today includes an award-winning food hall, The Depot Antique Mall, two craft breweries, restaurants, a classic car showroom and office and warehouse space.

The recapitalization brings together two parties with deep, complementary expertise: the Liles family, who have stewarded Gibson Mill’s revitalization for more than two decades, and White Point, which has emerged as one of the Southeast’s leading adaptive reuse developers. White Point’s Charlotte adaptive reuse portfolio includes Optimist Hall, Dilworth Artisan Station, Bowers, Salt & Vinegar, and Chadbourn—projects that have helped redefine how historic industrial buildings serve modern communities.

With the Liles family continuing in ownership and White Point bringing fresh capital and development capabilities, the partnership is positioned to build on Gibson Mill’s existing momentum and explore new opportunities to enhance the experience for tenants and visitors alike.

“Gibson Mill is a special place with a strong foundation and a vibrant community,” said Erik Johnson, founding partner of White Point. “We’ve learned that the best outcomes in adaptive reuse happen when you honor what a place already is. We’re thrilled to partner with the Liles family to thoughtfully guide Gibson Mill’s next chapter.”

“When we acquired Gibson Mill in 2004, we saw a building with extraordinary bones and a community that deserved a special place to gather,” said Jock Liles. “Twenty-plus years later, Gibson Mill has become exactly that. Partnering with White Point allows us to keep building on that work with a team that shares our values and brings real expertise to this unique property. My sons and I are excited about what comes next.”
