Sentral to introduce award-winning, innovative operations model with a focus on resident experience and flexible leases to Charlotte market

Sentral, the leading Class A multifamily management company, has announced its debut in Charlotte, North Carolina with three additions to its management portfolio: Joinery, Inkwell and a new community under construction, Oxbow, all by urbanist development firm Space Craft. The properties will add nearly 900 units to Sentral’s operations platform and continue a national growth strategy of expanding into the country’s most vibrant and fastest-growing cities.
The expansion into Charlotte comes on the heels of Sentral being named the Multifamily Property Management Company of the Year – Colorado by Real Estate Insider. The award was given in recognition of Sentral’s innovation, market impact, community contribution and adaptability as a multifamily operator.
“Charlotte is an ideal high-growth market for Sentral’s industry-leading management platform that creates an exceptional resident experience while boosting revenue for owners,” said Roman Speron, Chief Executive Officer of Sentral. “Together, Joinery, Inkwell and Oxbow are the perfect opportunity for us to launch our presence here with scale and quality.”
Sentral will assume management of Joinery and Inkwell, which opened in 2022 and 2023 respectively, while Oxbow is a new community slated to open summer 2026. All three communities will feature a select number of furnished apartments that will be available under short term leases, an innovative model of integrating traditional long-term leasing with flexible leasing options that Sentral has spearheaded in cities across the country.
The communities are each located just north of Uptown in Optimist Park and NoDa. These particular areas that border one another have been transformed in recent years into thriving food, arts and culture destinations that are acclaimed for their easy walkability and convenient proximity to public transit.
Space Craft is the developer of Joinery, Inkwell, and Oxbow. Joinery and Oxbow have been developed in partnership with Lindgren Development, an investment arm subsidiary of Swinerton.
Located at 1816 North Brevard Street, Joinery is made up of three six-to-seven-story buildings offering 443 studio to three-bedroom apartments, some of which will be furnished and available for short-term, any length of stay leasing. The building was designed with a focus on sustainability. It was the first car-optional apartment building in Charlotte, featuring EV carshare and bike- and scooter-share programs, as well as convenient access to public transit.
Joinery’s amenities include three gyms, three courtyards with BBQ grills; two roof decks with uptown views; three coworking cafes with private phone booths, coffee and sparkling water bars; a community grab-and-go market, a pet spa and a soon-to-open pet park. Joinery also has food and beverage and other retail amenities conveniently located on the ground floor, including Night Swim Coffee, BK Pilates, Beauty Embrace brow services, Sharigato, a soon-to-open hand-rolled sushi bar, and more. Also downstairs is Joinery Alley, a coming-soon, pedestrian-only corridor that will grow alongside its tenants and community. Planned activations include food trucks, concerts, farmers markets, artist showcases and pop-up events, creating a flexible third space that adapts throughout the year.
Inkwell, located at 730 East 36th Street, offers 65 studio to three-bedroom apartments, six of which will operate as furnished apartments available for short-term, any length of stay leasing. Each apartment is designed with oversized windows to allow ample natural light and fresh air, with select apartments featuring large, outdoor patios. Amenities include a gym, a roof deck with neighborhood views and on-site retail, including Greco Fish Grille and Panko Peruvian Fusion. Inkwell is within close walking distance of downtown NoDa, with an array of other shopping, entertainment and public transit options.
Opening summer 2026, located just blocks from Joinery, Oxbow will offer 389 residential units from studios to four bedrooms, a subset of which will be furnished apartments available for short-term, any length of stay leasing. Amenities will include a resident courtyard, fitness studios, a sauna and treatment room, co-working spaces, and two rooftop decks, with Sentral adding its signature hospitality-style services, including a fitness program director and package concierge. Sustainable features will include a resident EV share program, ranging from e-bikes and e-scooters to car options; an in-building composting program; and a high SEER-rate HVAC system. Retail space ideal for coffee shops, boutiques and neighborhood services will be located on the ground floor.
