M/I Homes to launch nearly 300 new homes in Charlotte and Hickory in 2026

The company will debut in Hickory and build or expand communities in Concord, Locust, Gastonia, Mooresville, Kannapolis, and Charlotte in 2026

M/I Homes to launch nearly 300 new homes in Charlotte and Hickory in 2026

The company will debut in Hickory and build or expand communities in Concord, Locust, Gastonia, Mooresville, Kannapolis, and Charlotte in 2026

M/I Homes will continue its growth in the Charlotte region in 2026, including its debut community in Hickory.

“Charlotte was one of the top metros in the country for job growth last year. We’re developing communities to keep up with demand for single family homes and townhomes, with amenities that families enjoy,” said Alan Beulah, area president of M/I Homes in Charlotte. “Entering the Hickory market is an exciting next step for us. While some builders are contracting, we plan to add personnel this year.”

Newly announced M/I Homes communities include:

Tennison Crossing in Hickory – This new community off Robinson Road will feature 191 ranch and two-story homes set on 62 acres. Buyers can select plans from M/I Homes’ Smart Series, featuring professionally selected design packages for an affordable new home. Amenities will include stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, spacious kitchen cabinets and pantries, large kitchen islands, and generously-sized bedrooms. Sales will begin in August.

Montevue in Concord – M/I Homes will build 93 homes on 63 acres in this community offering luxurious designs from its Legacy series. Homes will range from 3,850 to 4.478 square feet on 100′ lots, with up to 5 bedrooms and 4.5 baths. Exteriors will feature stone options with metal roof accents and 2- or 3-car garages. Look for designer details in the kitchen, including cabinets to the ceiling and quartz countertops. Optional outdoor living packages will be available with patios and outdoor kitchen components.

M/I communities now open for sales include:

Amber Glen in Locust – The model home is now open for this community of 184 single family homes on large, partially wooded home sites, set on 218 acres. With home plans from around 2,574 to over 3,500 square feet, each design offers 5 bedrooms, 2- or 3-car garages, and open layouts. The community will have a pool, clubhouse, pickleball courts, dog park, and walking trails.

Boulder Ridge in Gastonia – Sales have begun in this community with 300 home sites on about 267 acres. The collection of single-family homes features 2-story layouts ranging from 1,823 to 3,112 square feet, with flexible options for up to 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. Outdoor amenities will include walking trails, a disc frisbee course, pool, and cabana. The community has a scenic backdrop of Crowders Mountain.

Aberdeen in Charlotte – A new phase of this townhome community is open in north Charlotte. Aberdeen provides a low-maintenance, affordable lifestyle with 3 different home plans, featuring up to 3 bedrooms and 1- and 2-car garages.

M/I Homes communities opening for sale later this year include:

Cambrey Pointe in Mooresville – Opening for sales in June, Cambrey Pointe will offer 201 single family homes and 112 townhomes, with a blend of 2-story and 1.5-story designs. Single family homes with open-concept layouts, kitchens with large islands and walk-in pantries, and connected gathering spaces make everyday living easy. Buyers can personalize their home with a first-floor guest suite, extended covered porch, or private study. An on-site pool and cabana, playground, and parks are all part of Cambrey Pointe.

Crestfield in Kannapolis – Crestfield, opening for sales in November, will feature 231 townhomes less than a mile from the city’s downtown district. Buyers can choose from four townhome designs, ranging from 2,013 to 2,732 square feet. Home plans include 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths and 2 half baths, with an optional fourth bedroom in several plans. Homeowners will enjoy a pool and cabana on site.
