M/I Homes Buys 48 Acres in Kannapolis for New Community 

M/I Homes of Charlotte has closed on the purchase of 48 acres off Irish Glen Drive in Kannapolis for its newest community, Crestfield.

Crestfield will feature 231 townhomes less than a mile from the city’s downtown district.  It will be M/I Homes’ second community in Kannapolis.

“We’ve been looking for additional opportunities in Cabarrus County,” said Alan Beulah, area president of M/I Homes. “Kannapolis is growing and we’re excited to expand there. This location was especially attractive because it gives homebuyers convenient access to the North Carolina Research Campus and Atrium Health Kannapolis, as well as downtown shopping and dining.”

Buyers can choose from four townhome designs, ranging from 2,013 to 2,732 square feet. The home plans include three bedrooms, two full baths and two half baths, with an optional fourth bedroom in several plans. Most of the designs will be three stories and all include garages. Homeowners will enjoy a pool and cabana on site.

Site development is anticipated to begin this year, with sales opening in 2026. Crestfield is located to take advantage of Kannapolis’s thriving downtown. Restaurants, local shopping, and minor-league baseball with the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers are all close by.

M/I Homes’ first community in Kannapolis, Emerson Glen on Jim Johnson Road, will open its model and begin sales in May. Emerson Glen will offer 86 homes ranging 2,364 to 3,889 square feet, four to six bedrooms, up to five full bathrooms, and 2-car garages.

– In Huntersville, the model will open at M/I Homes’ Spring Grove  community on March 29. Spring Grove features 124 single family homes ranging from about 1,990 to more than 3,800 square feet, with up to five bedrooms:
