Staff Report//September 27, 2016//
Property owners looking to make emergency repairs to buildings damaged during last week’s protests in Mecklenburg County can contact Mecklenburg County Code Enforcement to have their permitting process expedited.
The department is encouraging businesses that are making repairs to call the Code Enforcement’s Customer Service Center at 980-314-CODE for more information.
Most of the commercial repair work on businesses in Uptown will require permits and inspections from the department, but typically repair permits are issued in 24 hours or less, according to a press release from the department.
Property owners who are unsure whether their repair work will require a permit or will be required to be performed by a licensed North Carolina contractor are asked to contact the Commercial Technical Assistance Center at 980-314-CODE or by email at [email protected].
Contractors who are in the process of making repairs for customers and trying to obtain permits are asked to apply online at www.meckpermit.com to expedite the process.
