The Charlotte City Council on Monday approved several contracts for construction projects on a new operations center and an airport expansion.
The Council approved a contract amendment and a contract for the construction of an 82,914-square-foot, four-story operations center for police, firefighters, emergency operations and a call center at 1222 Statesville Ave. The council approved adding $1.5 million to its contract with Little Diversified Architectural Consulting Inc. following changes to plan designs and a $53 million contract with a joint venture comprising Rodgers Builders Inc. and RJ Leeper Construction for construction management.
Council members also approved contracts for the expansion of Concourse A at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The construction management joint venture of Turner Construction and Rodgers Builders INc. will receive $121 million and Amec Foster Wheeler Environment Infrastructure Inc. will receive $620,000 for construction materials testing and inspections. Plans are to expand the concourse by 211,000 square feet and add nine gates, a connecting walkway to the existing Concourse A, concession space and office space.
