Northeastern University will host a breakfast and panel discussion on Oct. 27 about redevelopment in uptown’s First Ward and how it fits into the larger North Tryon Vision Plan.
The event is 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the university’s campus, 101 N. Tryon St., Suite 1100. The panelists will be Daniel Levine, an owner of Levine Properties; Michael Smith, president and CEO of Center City Partners; and Barry Bluestone, the founding director of the university’s Kitty and Michael Dukakis Center for Urban and Regional Policy.
Levine’s company broke ground in September 2014 on the project on about 25 acres across nine blocks, much of which has been used as parking lots. Levine has nearly completed a 3.2-acre park, is renovating the Phillip Carey Building, and plans to build, over 15 years, an urban village with 1,500 apartments, 1.5 million square feet of office space, 350 hotel rooms, 350,000 square feet of retail space and three parking decks.
The event is free, but anyone interested in attending needs to register online at https://conta.cc/1RKt3Ba.
