M/I Homes begins clearing land for 294-home subdivision

CONCORD – The earth’s moving at Poplar Tent and Huntersville-Concord roads in anticipation of the Brookvue development, a new residential subdivision planned by . Erosion control got underway in late October on the 175 acres of farmland; now the Columbus, Ohio-based homebuilder is in the process of clearing the land that will house 294 new single-family homes.

, vice president of sales and marketing for the company in Charlotte, said M/I hopes to break ground soon on a small phase of homes featuring the development’s models, which should be completed in May. Lynch expects the first homes will be ready in July.

Brookvue will offer three series of homes from the company’s “traditional” and “courtyard” collections, and about 20 floor plans, ranging in size from 2,100 square feet to about 4,000 square feet. Prices will start in the mid-$200 range.  The two-story Hanley model features three to five bedrooms, 2.5 to 3.5 baths, and ranges in size from 2,831 to 2,857 square feet.

A second series at Brookvue will offer predominantly ranch-style Aberdeen model homes with optional second-floor bonus rooms.  Homes will range from 2,165 to 3,052 square feet with two to five bedrooms and two or three baths.

The two-story courtyard Arlington homes will have a side-entry third-car garage, four or five bedrooms and three or four full baths and range from 3,275 to 3,615 square feet.

Many of the floor plans feature large kitchens with walk-in pantries; downstairs bedroom suites; and large great rooms. The ranch plan will offer optional second floors, high ceilings and sky lights.

Exteriors will include stone and brick accents and front porches.
