Beginning June 2, the inside lanes of I277 in both directions will close for about four months so the contractor can install barrier walls and remove and reconstruct the center median. Barrier wall installation and median demolition will occur during the day and overnight and is expected to wrap up by Tuesday, June 9. During this one-week period, additional overnight lane closures may be needed. Residents may notice some noise during demolition.

The inside lanes of I-277 will remain closed for the full fourmonth construction period to allow crews to work safely in the center median. Work will take place Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The ramp to South Boulevard (Exit 1E) on the north side of I-277 remains reduced to one lane while work continues on the north side of the bridge. Ramps on the south side of I-277 remain open.

To ensure worker and motorist safety, please obey all directional signage in the project area.

Residents can sign up to receive daily road closure notices and other updates through Notify Me or view current impacts anytime using the Interactive Street Closure Map. Closures included in the Charlotte Street Closure Map also populate the Waze application, and travelers are encouraged to use the Waze navigation tool when traveling throughout Charlotte.
