Bar Louie coming to University Area in November

CHARLOTTE – Bar Louie, a cocktail bar company based in Texas, before the end of the year will be opening a location in the University Area, at 8760 J.M. Keynes Drive.

Known for cocktails, the bar also serves beer, wine and food, according to the Bar Louie website. There are dozens of Louie locations across the country, though the University Area will be the first Bar Louie in N.C.

The University Area location is set to open in November, according to the Bar Louie website’s hiring page.

Mecklenburg County in September issued a building permit, valued at $404,000, for renovations on the space that previously held a barbeque restaurant called Smokey Bones, according to the county’s building permit database. The building is just more than 7,000 square feet and the tax value is about $1.5 million, according to county records.
