CHARLOTTE – Nine construction firms based in the region made the cut among the top 100 privately held companies in the state, according to Chicago-based law firm Grant Thornton.
Charlotte-based Rodgers Builders placed 20th on the list, the highest ranking for any of the regionally based construction firms.
The Grant Thornton rankings are voluntary and are based on revenue in the most recent fiscal year, according to the law firm’s website. To be considered, companies must be headquartered in North Carolina and cannot be a subsidiary of another company or have publicly traded stock. Companies owned by private equity are allowed. Nonprofit, financial-services and health-care companies also are excluded from the ranking.
