CHARLOTTE – What’s a home without a big-screen television? The Charlotte Knights won’t have to answer that question when the AAA baseball team moves into its new, $54 million uptown digs in April.
The team said Wednesday that it’s teaming up with Toshiba Managed Business Services and Total Sports Entertainment to bring a 30-foot-by-82-foot, high-definition video board in left-center field of BB&T Ballpark, at Graham Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The Knights are claiming this screen will be the biggest of its kind in the International League, the minor-league division in which the Knights play.
“This video board will provide fans with a one-of-a-kind experience at BB&T Ballpark,” Knights executive Vice president, COO, Dan Rajkowski said in a news release. “The audio-visual aspect of our new ballpark was a clear priority for us as it relates to providing the best experience possible for our fans. Toshiba and TSE clearly understood our vision while providing an impressive digital signage implementation to allow our fans to better enjoy their time at BB&T Ballpark.”
The new home of the Knights will also have a 14-foot-by-35-foot LED exterior video display, an 8-foot-by-120-foot LED ribbon board display along the right field wall, two 3-foot-by-32.5-foot ribbon LED displays along the upper level façade on both sides of the stadium, and an LED video ribbon board measuring 2.5-feet by 42.75-feet within BB&T Ballpark’s five-section ticket plaza. Toshiba is also installing LCD menu boards within the BB&T Ballpark concession stands, as well as televisions throughout the concourse. Televisions will also be installed in the clubhouses, offices, team store, ballpark suites and suite level areas.
Opening day of the Knights 2014 season is April 11.
