Charlotte Knights issued nearly $912K more in permits for new ballpark

CHARLOTTE – Construction on the Charlotte Knights’ $54 million uptown ballpark is swinging along, as Mecklenburg County has issued five more building permits, valued at $911,943, to the team for construction on the new ballpark.

The county last week issued five more building permits, four of which were for what the building permit is calling “Phase 4” construction. Those permits were for work on a restaurant shell, the first-base concession stand, a pizza concession stand and a Beers of the World, according to county records.

The fifth permit was for the central kitchen, records show.

Charlotte-based Rodgers Builders is the general contractor on the project. Construction started in September on the new ballpark, which is on the block surrounded by Mint, Graham and Fourth streets, and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

The stadium is scheduled to be completed in time for Opening Day 2014 in April.
