Hoar Construction breaks ground on $26.4M Carolinas Rehabilitation-NorthEast

Birmingham, Ala.-based Hoar Construction broke ground Friday on Carolinas Rehabilitation-NorthEast, a $26.4 million, two-story, 40-bed rehabilitation hospital being built for Concord.
Hoar is the general contractor. Charlotte-based Freeman White is the architect for the 69,960-square-foot facility at 487 Lake Concord Road.
The facility, a joint venture between Carolinas HealthCare System and Stanly Regional Medical Center, will provide inpatient rehabilitative services for patients who have had strokes and traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, among other things.
Plans call for 40 beds to be relocated from the following facilities: 10 from Stanly Regional Medical Center, 10 from Carolinas Rehabilitation in Charlotte and 20 from Carolinas Medical Center-Mercy.
The construction project is expected to take 18 months to complete. The building is scheduled to open for patients in mid-2013.
