Ballantyne Village Shopping Center gets Mellow |

After sitting vacant for more than three years, a 6,645-square-foot space in the Ballantyne Village Shopping Center is finally getting a new tenant.

Mark Kieffer is opening a Mellow Mushroom franchise in the space.

It used to be home to Table Restaurant & Bar, which Alex Myrick operated for about two years before it closed in May 2008. Kieffer also owns a Mellow Mushroom in Myers Park.

Charlotte-based BV Management Co. owns and manages the 175,000-square-foot shopping center. BV restructured its mortgage debt on the center in April to avoid foreclosure.

BV would not disclose Mellow Mushroom’s lease terms.

Margie Bruner, principal with BV, said the center has about an 80 percent occupancy rate.

In addition to Mellow Mushroom, Bruner said Terrace Café of Ballantyne and Verizon Wireless have also opened recently at Ballantyne Village.
