Distressed-property activity declines in Charlotte

The number of foreclosed homes for sale in the Charlotte area keeps falling, the says.

This week, the CRRA reported that distressed properties accounted for 21.4 percent of closings in September.

That’s down from distressed sales representing 22.7 percent of all closings in August.

Distressed properties made up 15.9 percent of all new listings in September.

Also this week, Irvine, Calif.-based said the Charlotte area saw a drop in foreclosure activity in the third quarter.

The region had foreclosure filings — default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions — reported on 2,799 properties, a decrease of 15.2 percent from the second quarter of this year and a decrease of 43.5 percent from the third quarter of last year.
