Dual Roundabout Project in Northwest Charlotte Requires Road Closures

Department of Transportation is continuing a $6.8 million project to build two single-lane roundabouts at Oakdale/Miranda/Simpson roads and Oakdale/Sunset/Miranda roads in northwest Charlotte. Several road closures are coming up to safely complete concrete and asphalt work, stormwater, and to install permanent pavement markings and markers.
Contract crews will close Miranda Road between Oakdale Road and Beatties Ford Road on Monday, July 13. The contract calls for the closure to be in place for up to 42 days, detouring traffic along Beatties Ford Road, Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road and Oakdale Road, returning to Miranda Road.
Next, a set of weekend closures will be necessary at Oakdale and Sunset Roads.
The first closure will last from 8 p.m. Friday, July 17, until 6 a.m. Monday, July 20. Drivers will be detoured along Beatties Ford Road, Peachtree Road, Oakdale Road, N.C. 16/Brookshire Boulevard and Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road back to Oakdale Road.
The closures will continue for two more consecutive weekends, weather permitting.
The roadway portion of the project is anticipated to be complete by summer 2027. Other items like landscaping and vegetation establishment can continue into 2028.
