announced that Cabell Thomas has joined its Charlotte office as Vice President with the firm’s Debt & Structured Finance (DSF) team, working alongside Nate Sittema, Elliott Voreis, and the broader DSF team.

In this role, Thomas will specialize in multifamily financing, with a particular focus on middle-market clients, and will be responsible for originating, structuring, and executing loans through a wide range of capital sources, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, debt funds, insurance companies, banks, credit unions, and CMBS lenders.

Prior to joining CBRE, Thomas held roles at Northmarq and Newmark in Charlotte, where he focused on debt and equity placement for conventional multifamily and other asset classes including build-to-rent, manufactured, student and affordable housing, as well as self-storage, industrial, office, retail, and hospitality.

“Cabell’s expertise and market perspective will strengthen our ability to deliver innovative financing strategies for clients,” said Brett Gray, Senior Managing Director of Charlotte and the Carolinas. “His addition highlights our commitment to expanding our multifamily capabilities and providing best-in-class service across the Carolinas.”

“As a testament to this growth, Cabell will work closely with CBRE’s 20-plus-person Carolinas multifamily investment sales team, further cementing the firm’s market-leading presence in key Sunbelt growth markets,” Sittema said. “Cabell’s addition strengthens our ability to deliver institutional-level client representation to all market participants and ensures our team is well-positioned for the continued growth we expect across the region in the near term.”

Over the course of his career, Thomas has been involved in the sourcing, structuring, and closing of more than $4 billion in loan volume, including more than 100 acquisition financings across the Carolinas. He brings deep relationships with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, as well as over 200 capital sources nationwide. Thomas earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Business from Virginia Military Institute.

“It’s an honor to join CBRE’s exceptional DSF platform and have the opportunity to work alongside such talented debt and investment sales teams,” said Thomas. “I couldn’t be more excited to collaborate and contribute to what’s ahead.”
