The Playboy mansion in Los Angeles is being sold to the owner of the revered golden Twinkie.
List price: $200 million.
Daren Metropoulos, a principal at private-equity firm Metropoulos & Co., is buying the 29-room home on 5 acres in Holmby Hills. Metropoulos, whose firm co-owns Hostess Brands, purchased an adjacent property from Playboy Founder Hugh Hefner several years ago.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the latest sale comes with a caveat. The 90-year-old Hefner will be allowed to reside in the 20,000-square-foot mansion for the rest of his life. After that, Metropoulos plans to combine the two estates.
According to listing agent Hilton & Hyland, the mansion features a catering kitchen, wine cellar, home theater, separate game house, gym, tennis court, swimming pool, and large, cave-like grotto. The property is one of the few private residences in Los Angeles that comes with a zoo license.
