The Huntersville Planning Board will vote June 28 on whether or not to recommend the approval of CalAtlantic Home’s petition to add 98 single-family homes on vacant land south of Huntersville-Concord Road. The property is east of Old Vermillion Drive and west of the Mirabella subdivision.
CalAtlantic would build the homes on 45 acres, leaving an additional 29 acres undisturbed. The town’s planning staff is recommending the rezoning, provided that the developer agrees to various road improvements and to provide a bike lane on Huntersville-Concord Road. In addition, the staff said CalAtlantic needs to provide the town with additional information on easements and the proposed elevations of the homes.
CalAtlantic is seeking a rezoning for the 74 acres to neighborhood residential with conditional uses from transitional residential. The town board is scheduled to vote on the rezoning petition at its July 18 meeting.
