Waxhaw eases residential development rule

Roberta Fuchs//April 28, 2016//

The Town Council on April 26 unanimously approved a developer’s request to remove the minimum tract size on planned residential developments in the town.

Queen City Land requested an amendment to the town’s unified development ordinance so it could build an active-adult townhome subdivision on 15 acres slightly south of Waxhaw-Marvin Road and Prescott Glen Parkway.

The developer said it was unable to obtain the additional acreage needed to meet the ordinance’s former requirement that all planned residential developments be built on at least 20 acres.

The town council will consider the developer’s request to annex the property at a later date.
