Cornelius annexes land

The Cornelius Town Board on Monday night voted to annex about 38.8 acres into the town’s jurisdiction for the Avery Park subdivision, to be developed by M/I Homes. The annexed land is on Bailey Road, across from W.A. Hough High School.

Cornelius Planning Director Wayne Herron said the purpose of the annexation is to add the property to the town’s tax base. He said no lots or streets in the subdivision have been approved at this point.
