CHARLOTTE, N.C. (January 27, 2015) – The Mecklenburg Times today announced it is seeking nominations for the 7th Annual 50 Most Influential Women Awards and making it easier than ever to submit with a new Twitter option. In addition to the online form, you can now share your nomination in 140 characters or less using @50MIWAwards and #50MIW.
Created to spotlight the important role women play in the greater Charlotte region, in the economy, and in society, since 2009, a total of 300 women have received the award. The honorees represent the most influential women in business, government, education, and not-for-profit fields. They are selected by a panel of independent business leaders based on professional accomplishment and community involvement within the Charlotte area. The overall ‘Woman of the Year’ award will be selected out of the 2015 honorees and announced at the event. Past recipients include:

2014 Cheryl Richards – Northeastern University
“From the volume of nominations to event attendance and corporate partnerships, it’s amazing to see how much this event has grown since its inception six years ago,” said Meck Times Publisher, Liz Irwin. “Each year, we add something new and believe allowing nominations via Twitter will create a social buzz about all the many influential women in our community and uncover new candidates.”
The nomination deadline is Friday, February 27, 2015 at 5pm. Winners will be announced at the end of March and the Awards event will take place Friday, May 29, 2015 from 6:00-9:30pm at the Hilton Charlotte Center City.
