HUNTERSVILLE – The Planning Board on Tuesday deferred until Dec. 16 a request for rezoning and sketch plan approval from Epcon Communities.

The Dublin, Ohio-based company asked for the deferral until it can work out issues raised at the town Board of Commissioners meeting earlier this month, including clarification of an easement on Kinnamon Road, a private gravel road that several other properties access, and details on the company’s tree save plans and buffers.

The planning staff recommended that the rezoning not be approved unless those and other issues are worked out.

The proposed development, Courtyards at Kinnamon, would include 94-units of age-restricted homes on 29.6 acres between McCoy Road and The Park – Huntersville office and industrial development just west of Interstate 77. The company is asking that the zoning be changed from conditional district neighborhood residential from neighborhood residential.
