3 join Davidson planning department

Davidson is welcoming three new employees to its town staff. Travis Johnson and Alison Adams are joining the town’s planning department, replacing two vacancies. Jamie Morton has been hired to the public works department as downtown maintenance assistant to assist in economic development efforts.

experience that allows our department to keep pace with current town growth while continuing to focus on long-range planning initiatives.”

Johnson’s new role will be town planner. Most recently with Charlotte-based consultant LandDesign, he has eight years’ experience in private and public sector planning in government relations, planning, design, digital media and geographic information systems. Johnson will work with developers and serve as staff liaison to the planning board.

Adams most recently served as a planner in Statesville. With nine years’ experience in historic preservation, design review and geographic information system, she will work as a town planner.

Morton’s focus at the public works department will be maintaining the downtown area and providing assistance to streets and landscape crews on special projects. He has over five years’ experience with  the city of Gastonia.

“I know Davidson’s citizens and visitors appreciate a downtown area that is well-maintained,” Morton said, “so my job is to keep it looking great.”
