The Pineville Town Council plans to decide at its February meeting whether to permit tattoos in a planned business district and trampolines in an office-commercial district.
The council held public hearings on the requests at its Jan. 14 meeting.
Ed Kimsey, representing Déjà Vu Tattoo and Piercing, said the company wants to expand to Pineville at Carolina Place Mall. The town’s zoning ordinance currently does not have specific verbiage for tattoo and piercing businesses and would need to be amended. Déjà Vu currently has locations in Fayetteville, Greensboro, Greenville, and Winston-Salem.
Brian Spicker, representing Sky Zone, a chain of indoor trampoline parks, has requested a second amendment to add “recreation center” as a permitted use by right in the office-commercial district.
Plans are under way for a Sky Zone franchise to replace the former PetSmart location at Centrum Shopping Center on Centrum Parkway.
The amendments were to be considered by the Planning Board at its Jan. 23 meeting and, if approved, would be voted on by the Council in February.
