The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Department is holding a public meeting Jan. 14 to discuss revisions made to a plan for the Prosperity Hucks area in north Charlotte bounded by Prosperity Church, Hucks, Mallard Creek and Eastfield roads. The hearing will reflect changes made to the draft plan following the last plan meeting in August, when residents expressed concerns about traffic impacts and crime.
The current draft builds upon the existing framework of the 1999 plan for Prosperity Church Road Villages to create a new mixed-use center that connects to existing neighborhoods with scaled-down streets that are walkable and pedestrian friendly. The city envisions an area that will feature a combination of street-oriented retail, multifamily housing, public open spaces and residential neighborhoods.
The review meeting will be held at Crossway Community Church, 6400 Prosperity Church Road beginning at 6 p.m. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Committee will receive the public comments until 5 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Government Center on 600 East Fourth Street, Room 280.
