City to hold more Blue Line Extension meetings

CHARLOTTE – The and the are hosting two public meetings for the LYNX Blue Line Extension light rail project, according to the city.

The first meeting is a BLE progress meeting, which will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Dec. 5  in the fellowship hall at Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church, 101 W. Sugar Creek Road. The second meeting will be a transit station area plan workshop, which is being held to get public input on the future development around the planned light rail stations. That meeting will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Dec. 10  at the Oasis Shriners Center, 604 Doug Mayes Place in University City.

Both meetings are open to the public and the city is encouraging anyone interested to attend the meetings.

The $1.16 billion Blue Line Extension will add 11 new stops and four parking facilities to the existing light rail line, and will take riders north to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte as early as 2017.
