RealtyLink wins variance in Statesville

Mecklenburg Times staff reports//November 5, 2011//

Greenville, S.C.-based RealtyLink can move forward with construction on a 67,000-square-foot commercial building.

The Board of Adjustment has granted the company a variance.

Approved Tuesday, it allows the building to have flat exterior walls on the back and sides, instead of walls with ornate “recesses and projections,” as mandated by the town’s architectural ordinances, said Sherry Ashley, Statesville’s assistant planning director.

The Statesville Planning Board approved plans for the 6-acre site last week.

Ashley said RealtyLink is the broker on the project. It’s not clear who the developer is.

Ashley said Shawn McCleskey, RealtyLink’s director of planning and engineering services, has indicated the company wants to start construction by next summer.
