Cabarrus County Roads to Receive an Upgrade

The N.C. Department of Transportation has awarded a $3.3 million contract to improve more than 11 miles of secondary roads in Cabarrus County. Albemarle contractor J.T. Russell & Sons Inc. will carry out the project that includes milling, resurfacing, shoulder reconstruction, pavement markings and concrete driveways.

The following secondary roads are included in the contract: 

  • Miami Church Road between Mt. Pleasant Road and U.S. 601, approximately five miles 
  • Flowes Store Road between Flowes Store Road East and N.C. 24/27, about four miles 
  • Kannapolis Parkway between N.C. 3 and Kellswater Bridges Boulevard, around two miles

The contractor can start as early as this week and complete the project in the fall of 2026.
