Swinerton starts construction of Big V headquarters

Swinerton announces the construction of Big V Properties‘ (Big V) new headquarters. The 18,000-square foot space is located within a four-story, multitenant office building that Big V acquired last year. The $2.5 million project is expected to be completed this fall. 

“With its unique wedge shape and glass front, this 1980s-era office building is a landmark in Charlotte’s popular South Park neighborhood,” explains Kevin Smith, Vice President, Division Manager, Swinerton‘s Charlotte Division. “It’s always a challenge to work on a build of this magnitude in an occupied building. But we’ve done it before, and we have a plan for everything – from noise mitigation to trash disposal to material delivery – to ensure minimal disturbance to the existing environment.” In addition to its general contractor duties, Swinerton oversees the carpentry and millwork craftspeople who are creating new office storefront systems and installing custom countertops and acoustic paneling. 

Big V’s headquarters encompasses the top floor of 6202 Fairview Road in Charlotte, NC. With the demolition of the former floor plan complete, Swinerton has begun the build-out of the new space designed by Redline Design Group. Plans call for open office space surrounded by private offices, three huddle rooms, a phone room, a conference room and a collaboration area. Among the employee amenities are a wellness room and a gaming/breakout area outfitted with a ping pong table and a television. Design features include a storefront glass panel system, wood architectural and suspension ceilings, wood veneer siding in the lobby area, luxury vinyl plank flooring, polished concrete and a giant table for all-hands meetings. Officing approximately 45 employees, the finished environment will include 14 private offices along with four office hotels for employees and visitors. 

Advanced technology equips Swinerton throughout Big V’s interior construction. The BIM 360 3D modeling and collaboration tool equips the team with accurate and timely data to ensure seamless scheduling for an efficient and accurate build delivered on-time and on-budget.
