FORT MILL, S.C.  — The Charlotte Knights old stadium in South Carolina is awaiting after the team’s move to an uptown stadium.

The Charlotte Observer reported (https://bit.ly/1pWuByd ) that Charlotte clothing retailer has bought the old site in Fort Mill for a distribution center.

The Knights have set attendance records at the new BB&T BallPark in uptown Charlotte.

Cato says its development could include hotels, restaurants and housing.

No dates have been set for demolition of the stadium or construction of the distribution center.

Cato’s chief financial officer John Howe says the timing was excellent when the company discovered the old stadium site was available for sale.

York County, S.C., economic development director Mark Farris said he’s pleased with the job prospects for the Fort Mill area.
