M/I Homes of Charlotte raises nearly $300,000 towards cancer research

Take the proceeds from a benefit home, add a successful golf fundraiser, and what do you get? Nearly $300,000 for cancer research.

M/I Homes of Charlotte has raised $292,045 for Pelotonia, a leading national non-profit that funds innovative cancer research. The local benefit home is located in the Stallings Brook community in Indian Trail. With help from participating trade partners and vendors, the sale of the home raised $243,328 for Pelotonia, with the golf tournament raising the remainder.

built benefit homes in Charlotte and 14 other markets across the U.S this year. A portion of each sale was donated to Pelotonia. Companywide, M/I Homes raised more than $3 million in 2023 for the non-profit. 

“Pelotonia is near and dear to our hearts at MI Homes,” says George Schulmeyer, area president at M/I Homes in Charlotte. “Cancer has affected everyone in some way, be it an immediate loved one, friend or co-worker. To be an active participant in finding a cure is momentous for our team.”  

Every dollar raised for Pelotonia through this initiative goes directly to cancer research, prevention and early diagnosis, enhanced treatments and therapies, and immuno-oncology at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center. M/I Homes has been a supporter of Pelotonia for 15 years.

The 15 benefit M/I homes were built in Charlotte, Raleigh, Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Columbus, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Chicago, Minneapolis, Detroit, and three cities in Florida.
