At a time when home builders and realtors are struggling to maintain momentum, Charlotte’s 2019 Community of the Year has bucked the trend by showing consistent new home sales while offering unique, stay-at-home-friendly programming for current residents.

In the month of April, national statistics were showing a 65%-85% drop in new home sales across the country. During that month, 20 new homes were sold at MillBridge utilizing a series of adaptive strategies including remote realtor visits, virtual tours from community builders, and targeted social media campaigns. While exploring the real estate market from home, prospective residents continued to be drawn to this master-planned community for its collection of reputable home builders, as well as its resort-style amenities including a full coffee bar, three swimming pools, a movie theater, fitness center, and much more.

“We are thrilled by the number of prospective residents that have continued to show interest in our community during these unprecedented times”, says Kelley Archer, Director of Marketing for Landeavor (developer of MillBridge). “As we adapt, we continue to look for new and creative ways to give homebuyers and their families an in-depth look at our community from the comfort of their own homes.”

Current residents have benefited greatly from the community’s efforts as well. Beginning with the North Carolina stay-at-home order and continuing through the month of June, MillBridge has offered a full programming calendar to its residents, including at least two virtual events per week for residents to enjoy.

At-Home Fitness Classes – Weekly fitness classes have long been a fixture on the monthly lifestyle calendar for community residents. During the pandemic, MillBridge has offered virtual fitness videos from Sheila Seale, who regularly leads the community’s in-person fitness classes.

Family Crafts and Storytime – Using easy-to-find supplies from around home, MillBridge Lifestyle Director Jordan Keene offers easy to follow instructional videos for kids and families to enjoy. In addition, Jordan has hosted Storytime videos for young MillBridge residents featured books like The Rainbow Fish and Bunny’s Book Club.

Community Contests – MillBridge residents have taken part in a series of “community competitions”, sparking moments of fun and creativity throughout the community. Contests have including sidewalk chalk art, pillow fort building, spring yard projects, and more.

As local restrictions begin to lift, MillBridge has resumed limited in-person programming for residents, including outdoor fitness classes and scheduled pool/amenity access. During this transition, residents will still be able to enjoy virtual programming from home including Facebook Live access to the scheduled outdoor fitness classes.

“MillBridge is known for offering a vibrant and engaging calendar of events to its residents every month, and it is important we continue that effort now more than ever,” says Archer. “We’re very fortunate to have wonderful residents who not only help us offer this content, but also continue to join together as a community in this way.”

In 2019, MillBridge was recognized as Charlotte’s Community of the Year by the Home Builders Association. This marks the second time in three years that MillBridge has been selected as Community of the Year by the Association (2017 and 2019, the award cannot be received by the same community in consecutive years). Due to its array of resort-like amenities including its pool pavilion, full coffee bar and movie theater, MillBridge was also presented the Community Amenity Package of the Year award in 2014 and 2016.
