White Point Partners has announced it has leased space to Legion Brewing Company at its latest adaptive re-use project, Salt & Vinegar. The development, made up of two buildings constructed in 1955, is located at 2001 West Morehead Street with views of the Uptown skyline and Bank of America Stadium.

“We are excited to welcome Legion Brewing to our latest adaptive re-use development, Salt +Vinegar,” said Jay Levell, co-founder of White Point Partners. “This is our second collaboration with Phil Buchy and his team, the first being the original Legion location in the former Brodt Music building on Commonwealth Avenue. Legion’s focus on quality and a unique customer experience is consistent with what we try to deliver at all of our projects.”

Upon completion, Salt + Vinegar will total approximately 74,000 square feet across the two buildings. The 22,000 square foot space leased to Legion Brewing Company will provide Legion with expanded production space, as well as a taproom, biergarten, and courtyard, offering a full beer and food menu. White Point is targeting office tenants for approximately 47,000 of the remaining square feet, while unique retail tenants will be the focus for the other 5,000 square

feet. The project is conveniently located on West Morehead Street between Freedom Drive and Wilkinson Boulevard, just west of Uptown Charlotte and I-77. It is within easy walking distance of the planned Morehead Station of the future Lynx Silver Line that will span Belmont to Matthews, with a convenient stop at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.

“At Salt & Vinegar, we envision a completed development similar to our Bowers project in lower South End,” said Erik Johnson, co-founder of White Point Partners. “We are targeting a tenant mix that will complement Legion and believe the authenticity, mixed-use nature, and repurposed single-story buildings will be well-received in the market.”

The name of the development, Salt + Vinegar, pays homage to Mitchum Quality Snacks, which operated in the buildings for a number of years, producing high-quality potato chips and distributing them to stores throughout the Southeast, Caribbean, and Mexico. Before Mitchum, in the 1960s, Westinghouse Appliance Sales occupied the buildings. More recently, the building was home to The Potato Sack, a flea market meets pop-up showroom concept for area designers and antique vendors . The preservation of a majority of the structures and the storied history of both Mitchum and Westinghouse are at the heart of the project. Matt

McLanahan of White Point Partners represented Legion Brewing in the lease transaction.
