New Forum has announced that JELD-WEN Holding, Inc., one of the world’s largest door and window manufacturers, has begun moving employees into its new global headquarters building at Ayrsley, the master-planned, mixed-use community in Steele Creek.

JELD-WEN’s first employees moved into the One Silver Crescent building late last week, and its Charlotte-based employees will relocate to the 120,000-sqaure-foot building through early March. The company announced in late 2016 that it would relocate its offices from uptown Charlotte to Ayrsley.

With its corporate signage visible from interstate 485, JELD-WEN’s headquarters building includes a brand new showroom to display the company’s industry-leading products. One Silver Crescent’s 30,000-square-foot floorplates feature high ceilings and open layouts, providing flexibility and efficiency. The four-story building also offers easy access to major interstates and is surrounded by Ayrsley’s numerous hotels, restaurants, retail and residential options.

“We are very excited about the completion of our new headquarters and world-class showroom,” said Mark Beck, president and CEO of JELD-WEN. “The design and location of this building were carefully selected to enhance our capacity to serve all our stakeholders. Ayrsley appealed to us because of the wide variety of amenities and its proximity to the airport and uptown. Ayrsley is centrally located for many of our associates and, for most, commute times will remain the same or improve. We look forward to completing our move.”

Late last year New Forum completed the One Silver Crescent building, which was one of the largest tilt-up construction projects in the Southeast. The company is now marketing Two Silver Crescent, an 88,000-square-foot companion building that will be located at the intersection of Ayrsley Town Boulevard and Sessions Street.

“When we first started developing Ayrsley over 20 years ago, our vision was to create a vibrant, walkable destination that would appeal to leading employers,” said William Hodges, vice president and broker-in-charge at New Forum. “As our largest office tenant, JELD-WEN will be a tremendous addition, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome this innovative, world-class company to Ayrsley.”

Based in Charlotte, New Forum is a real estate development, management and operating firm with a portfolio that includes office, retail, hotel, medical, multifamily and senior living. The company specializes in mixed-use communities that create a sense of place such as Ayrsley, a walkable, master-planned development in Steele Creek that includes more than two million square feet of office and retail space, three hotels, single-family homes, luxury apartments, restaurants and a 14-screen movie theater.
