A rally will be held Saturday in Charlotte to protest the City Council’s scheduled vote to sell 11.5 acres of former Eastland Mall property to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for a new public school.
The “Save Eastland” rally, organized by Eastside activist Ed Garber, will urge the council to vote ‘no’ on the sale.
He believes economic development needs to be the focus of the Eastland site and a school will limit future development options, he said.
The rally begins at 1 p.m. at North Sharon Amity and Central Avenue.
