Cash home sales continue to decline

Cash sales of homes in the Charlotte region continue to decline, down 5.8 percentage points year-over-year in December 2015, to 26.7 percent of all sales, according to real estate data and analytics firm CoreLogic. That figure is lower than the national average of 33.4 percent in December.

Nationally, cash sales of homes peaked in January 2011, reaching 46.6 percent of purchases. Prior to the housing crisis, the cash sales share averaged about 25 percent, a rate expected to be reached again by mid-2017.
