Catawba Indian Nation gets $1.5M in HUD funds

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Catawba Indian Nation in York County is receiving more than $1.5 million from the federal government.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development announced the grant, which will be used for affordable housing, on Feb. 17.

The federal government each year distributes money under the Indian Housing Block Grant program. The money helps low-income residents on reservations or in other Native American or Native Alaskan communities.

The money is used to build new homes or for other housing programs.
