Harrisburg seeks proposals for area plan

The town of Harrisburg is soliciting proposals for the creation of an area plan for land directly west of the town center.

The move follows a recent economic-development assessment that identified the Morehead West area as requiring further study to ensure the town’s economic viability. Morehead West has access to both U.S. Highway 29 and N.C. Highway 49, and is near Interstate 485, Charlotte Motor Speedway and UNC Charlotte.

The plan will determine the area’s best future land uses and subsequent infrastructure needs, and will be used to develop policies in support of the uses. Work on the project will include meetings with town staff and stakeholders, and recommendations on modifications to zoning regulations, if necessary.

Proposals must be received by Feb. 19. For information, see bit.ly/1ZppId3.
