Beacon Partners breaks ground on spec building

Charlotte-based developer Beacon Partners has broken ground on its second speculative industrial building in the RiverOaks Corporate Center in Cabarrus County. The 309,536-square-foot building is scheduled for completion in the second quarter.

Some 453,000 square feet of space either has been completed or is being built at the 150-acre manufacturing and logistics park. The company began construction at RiverOaks Corporate Center late last year with a 143,670-square-foot building. An unnamed tenant is scheduled to move in this spring after having leased more than half the space.

Beacon Partners says it is accelerating its work on the park’s infrastructure, including pre-grading the site’s remaining three tracts on 82 acres.

The corporate center is northeast of the Concord Regional Airport at the corner of Poplar Tent and Derita roads.

“We are pleased with Beacon Partners’ commitment to our community through their development of RiverOaks Corporate Center,” said Samantha Grass, project manager for Cabarrus Economic Development, in a written statement. “This master-planned industrial park significantly helps our efforts to assist existing companies expand and to attract new companies to Cabarrus County.”

Choate Construction is the general contractor for RiverOaks Corporate Center. Merriman Schmitt is the architect and ColeJenest & Stone is the civil engineer.
