Matthews seeks public input for park development

The town of Matthews will host a meeting Jan. 5 to get public input and ideas for a park that will be built on Rice Road.

The meeting will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Matthews Community Center, 100 McDowell St., and follows an initial meeting held in November.

A conceptual plan for the 10-acre park, east of Sam Newell Road, can be found at http://bit.ly/1OoJWxD.  The plan includes a basketball court, a playground, a lawn area, a paved walking trail, a picnic area and bike racks.

For more information contact the Matthews Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resource Department at 704-321-7275, or email Corey King, at cking@matthewsnc.gov.
