The Charlotte Regional Realtor Association/Carolina Multiple Listing Services Inc. honored several industry leaders at its 2015 holiday lunch awards and annual meeting. More than 500 members of the local Realtor community attended the event Dec. 11 at the Crowne Plaza Charlotte Executive Park.
Joe Rempson, a Realtor, broker and vice president of T.R. Lawing Realty, was named 2015 Realtor of the Year. The award is the highest honor given by the association to a Realtor who has made outstanding contributions to the community above and beyond the activities within the real estate profession.
Rempson was honored for logging many volunteer hours with local and state associations and serving in various positions for the CRRA, including 2013 president elect. He also has been a member of the board of governors of the Real Estate and Building Industry Coalition and was chairman of the inaugural 2009 Realtors Care Day event, one of the largest philanthropic projects of the CRRA’s Housing Opportunity Foundation.
Melissa Zimmerman, a Realtor and broker with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, was named 2015 Van Mingle Rookie of the Year. The award is presented to a new Realtor who excels in his or her profession. Criteria include joining the association between Jan. 1, 2014, and Dec. 31, 2014, and closing at least 10 transactions during the first 12 months of membership. Zimmerman closed 12 transactions in her first year, with a sales volume of more than $2 million. She also is a community volunteer.
Jason Gentry, a Realtor and broker with Premier Sotheby’s International Realty, received the 2015 Committee Chair of the Year Award. Gentry, the 2011 Van Mingle Rookie of the Year award winner, also served as the association’s executive treasurer this year. He is a member of the Charlotte Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council and was recognized with the 2012 Rising Star Award from the North Carolina Association of Realtors.
