Levine Properties has hired David Smith to be its director of construction and development.

Smith will oversee retail, multifamily and mixed-use development projects.
He has 30 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry in the southeast, including as vice president of Southern Land Co. LLC’s construction division and director of design and construction for Crosland’s retail division.
Smith also worked for Disney Imagineering and Disney Development Co. for 12 years developing retail, dining, and entertainment and lodging projects from Florida to Hong Kong.
“David’s energy and expertise in creating and overseeing destination resorts, multifamily residential and retail ventures will add immediate value to our growing project portfolio,” Steve Smith, Levine Properties chief operating officer, said in a release. He worked with David Smith at Disney for eight years.
David Smith’s most recently worked at Northwood Ravin, where he focused on multifamily residential development including renovations to the Vue in uptown.
“Given my background, I found the mix of product types in Levine Properties portfolio and pipeline combined with the chance to work with my former colleague, Steve Smith, again very appealing,” he said in a release. “The company’s reputation for quality design and construction along with the exciting projects on the boards makes this a great fit for me.”
David Smith has a bachelor’s degree in building construction from the University of Florida. He lives in SouthPark with his wife, Kristan, and has six grown children and one grandchild.
