Homebuilding company Lennar has raised $1,600 toward a tree-planting initiative at six elementary schools in Mecklenburg, York, Iredell, Gaston and Union counties.
Last month the company said it would donate $100 for each home sold in the area through the end of September to pay for planting trees on the schools’ campuses.
Schools participating in the program are Palisades Park Elementary in Mecklenburg County, Doby’s Bridge Elementary in York County, Woodland Heights Elementary in Iredell County, Waxhaw Elementary in Union County, and Page Primary School and W.A. Bess Elementary in Gaston County.
Lennar Charlotte has several projects in the area, including Berewick Aberdeen, a development within the 1,200-acre master-planned community of Berewick on Steele Creek Road in southwest Charlotte. The company has also targeted northern Lancaster County, South Carolina, with its Springfield development in northern Fort Mill and its Indian Land subdivisions, the Carolina Reserve and Retreat at Rayfield. The company has 16 developments in the Charlotte area.
