Pappas Properties is offering the “Queen Park Multi-Cinema” sign to a new owner. The company plans to redevelop the site of the former movie theater on South Boulevard into a transit-oriented development along the Lynx Blue Line.

Free delivery of the 5-by-10-foot metal and Plexiglass sign will be provided. The company also is offering a 2-by-4 plastic “QP” sign that was at the site. Those who are interested should contact Historic Charlotte at info@historiccharlotte.org by Oct. 30 with answers to the following questions:

  • Why you think you are the most deserving caretaker of this piece of Charlotte’s History?
  • Where it will be displayed if you win?
  • Who will see it once on display?
  • How the piece will be protected and preserved.

The cinema opened in 1982 and closed in 1998. Pappas tried but was unable to incorporate the sign in the new development and dismantled it in 2014.
