The town of Matthews has issued a request for proposals to develop vacant land in its downtown area.
The 0.4-acre site is at 122 Matthews Station St., and the town wants a mixed-use project built as a private-public partnership, the RFP indicated. Proposals should include plans to make the first floor of any project at least 50 percent retail/restaurant space, and it should be designed so the building fits in with the area architecturally.
The property is on the last available development pad on the street and was created as part of a downtown redevelopment project that created the new Town Hall/Library, green space, parking, public streets and four commercial buildings.
Proposals should be submitted by 5 p.m. Oct. 26 to Jay Camp, senior planner for the Matthews Planning and Development Department, 232 Matthews Station St., Matthews, N.C., 28105.
