Construction jobs in the Charlotte region grew by 5 percent in November compared with the previous year, according to the Associated General Contractors of America.

That placed the region tied for 125th out of 339 metropolitan statistical areas included in the data, which is based on Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Charlotte construction jobs grew to 45,000 in November from 42,800 the previous year.

Charlotte accounted for 22.2 percent of the 9,900 jobs gained statewide, although a large chunk attributed to the state – 2,600 – were gained in the Virginia Beach, Va., area, which includes part of northeast N.C.

Pascagoula, Miss., gained the largest share of construction jobs, which were up 24 percent from the previous year. The Steubenville, Ohio-Weirton, W.V., area lost 39 percent of its jobs, placing it last.
